Today my 2011 calender arrived!

I know, I'm a bit late, but there are still three month to go and the beautiful
pictures from one of my favorite artists Camilla Engman will remain in 2012 too.
It looks beautiful, as always.

Earlier I've bought the suitcase series. I wrote about that here

Her friendly dog Morran is in the calender too :-)
Camilla just started studio Morran: a blog dedicated to and about Morran.
The idea is to make an illustration book about him from all different artists
and illustrators. That will be fun!

Again a word I had to look up in my dictionary, just as mesmerizing.
(theme from last week) A great way to improve my english :-)
First thing whch came into my mind was this ferocious lion tamer.

red shoes

hurray, I found my red shoes!!

A several years ago I bought very nice red shoes
and I was in love with them.
I walked on them till they broke in two, totally worn out.
I wanted new ones, but couldn't find them, till today :-)

I've also made an illustration earlier this year in January
about my longing for red shoes:
today red is the color of my shoes

yesterday I saw a girl walking on the street with a bright yellow legging,
the weather was grey for the rest, but her legs brightened the street :-)
It inspired me to this drawing.

I come from a big family and in my youth I always tried to save the most
delicious part from my food for the last. But when the others were already finished,
I really had to defend my last part. I had to put up my boundaries...

rain, rain, rain....

It's raining, almost all summer. Now it's almost autumn and it still rains.
It inspired me to this rainy illustration.

little red ridinghood and the seven wolves

What a coincidence! This weeks theme of illustration friday is: diguise. It suits so well to my submission for Uncovered Cover Art Blog Contest. There are only a few days left to enter artwork or vote for your favorite re-imagined book covers.

I did join and mixed two fairytailes to one: 'little red ridinghood' and 'the wolf and the seven goats', so it became: little red ridinghood and the seven wolves.

You can vote for your favourite bookcover (there are lots of nice ones!)
Ofcourse I would really appreciate if you vote for mine ;-)

Yesterday morning I saw a mother coming out of her house
with two infant twins. They wore the same clothes. That's the best!
I'm always fascinated by twins. I love their synchronicity.

This little scene inspired me to this illustration.

For my birthday today I've got another very nice birthday-present:
the illustrators annual 2011 from the Bologna's children bookfair

It's full with great illustrators from all over the world.
I didn't had the chance to read a lot in it, but an eye-catcher for me is Anne Crahay
But there is much more in it, very exciting and inspiring :-)
