Route du Nord

As I said I participate, with many other artists,
in an exhibition this weekend: Route du Nord
It's an Art Festival including Art, Music and Performances.

For this exhibition I selected nine faces from my face a day project.
It is the first time they are in an exhibition.

Today the prints I ordered where ready. For this occasion
I had them sticked on aluminium. Very nice, tight and bright.
We have put them up, not an easy job to get them straight,
but we made it :-)

Friday night will be the opening of the festival
and it continues the whole weekend. I will be there too.
So if people wanna come by and say hello, you are welcome!

Little Red Ridinghood

My submission for the self portrait competition
from Museum Boymans van Beuningen in Rotterdam.
There are already almost 1000 participants...

Find my Little Red Ridinghood here

The portrait is a drawing / collage after an old youth photo of me.
It's one of the faces for my face a day project.

I heard about this competition from Celine schroeder
She joins too with one of her very strong Pippi paintings.
Thanks Celine!

THE REAL FACE BOOK web page

THE REAL FACE BOOK PROJECT is growing. It's an interactive project.
You can find it on the facebookpage from Geert de Kockere. Every day
he posts one of my faces and everyone can add a new proverb or word inspired by them.

New is THE REAL FACE BOOK webpage Here you find the published faces.
You can click on the faces and see a selection words and proverbs people already added. Mostly they are in dutch, but everyone can join. If your sentence will be selected your name will be under the credits

THE REAL FACE BOOK

Today a new experiment has started:
My faces will be published every day on the facebook page from Geert de Kockere,
a flemish (children book) writer.(whom I like very much:-))

He started 'THE REAL FACE BOOK' experiment and ask people
if they want to submit a proverb, saying or expression to each face.

Maybe this will become a (face) book... That would be so great!!
The page is in dutch, but the faces are international :-)

a face a day: finale!

Tadaaaa! Here's the last overview of my face a day project:
the month November.

I started this project on the 1st of December 2010.
I've made 365 faces, a whole year long, each day one...
You can see them on my face-a-day-blog.

I'm very glad and proud I've made it!
Publishing a face each day was quite a lot.
But most of all: it was fun and it gave me red cheeks :-)

face-inspirations (2)

Here are some more inspirations from my face a day project.
This is a follow-up from an earlier post face-inspirations

The first one face 220 is after my most favourite monkey in Blijdorp Zoo. We call him Cor. He looks so sad and depressive, I always feel sorry for him. It was a challenge to change him into a man.

The second one face 221 is after another monkey in Blijdorp Zoo. It's one of the "Cor-nuiten" (friends from Cor) He/she looks a bit more happy than Cor, but I also see some sadness in the eyes. It was a challenge to change him (or her) into a girl.

face-inspirations

I like to share some inspirations from my face a day project

The first one face 75 is little red riding hood. This is one of my favourite youth-photos: me as a very shy infant with big glasses dressed up as little red riding hood to walk in a dressed-up parade. I first made a rough sketch with a big marker, I scanned this sketch and painted the rest in photoshop.

face 116 When I was watching the tv, I saw our news-reader was wearing an interesting jacket. I made a quick drawing of her jacket (I've made up her face, we don't have news-readers like this :-)), scanned the sketch and coloured it in photoshop.

face 107 I like to go to the Zoo with my camera. I made this picture of a gull and the moment I took it, I knew it would be a great challenge for a face. I like the different personalities of animals and I've made the gull into this gullman.
