trio umbrella

This morning I saw a woman with an umbrella,
I didn't see her head. It looked funny.
It inspired me to this drawing.

just a matter of practice...

Almost every day I start with a bikram yoga class.
Sarea, one of my favourite teachers has given her last class today.
She's leaving to France. This is my saying-goodbye drawing for her.

can you sing, sing with us!

I'm always fascinated by singing people, especially choirs.
I like the way they sing: so full of passion :-)

This illustration is inspired on an old dutch songbook with the title:
kun je zingen, zing dan mee! (wich means: can you sing, sing with us!)

face-parade

And this was the last day of my 'drawing faces' week.
It was fun to play with so many different materials!

For the finale I've made this face parade.
I wanted to give the faces a body again :-)

And here are three more faces in different techniques:
charcoal, collage and crayon
Thanks, Carla Sonheim for the inspiration!

faces, faces and faces :-)

This new year starts with drawing lots of faces. I couldn't resist the
101 faces class from Carla Sonheim.
I know I drew 365 faces last year, but I can't get enough of it :-)

Inkfaces: it's so nice to try all different kind of materials. It stimulates me to experiment and try out new things.

And I even tried watercolor...

These drawings I've made with my non-dominant hand.

I've made all these faces in two days. Three more days to go. it's fun!

all about emotions

This was the last week Animals in Art class from the
Dancing Cat Art School. This weeks theme: Animals in Emotion

I've chosen the goat as my subject. To emphasis the different emotions
I've made this animated picture: 'mixed feelings'

marabous, marabous and more marabous....

This week I started with the Animals in Art on line class from the
Dancing Cat Art School
Six weeks of drawing animals :-)

the first assignment: Animals in Observation.
To warm up we've made some blind contour drawings.
(Quick drawings without looking on your paper)

We had to choose an animal to draw from real life
or from photographs you've taken. I chose the marabou.
It's one of my favorite birds, I always visit them
when I go to the ZOO

I have drawn the marabous in many different techniques:
pen and ink, with photoshop, charcoal and eraser, pastels....

And below the marabou in an environment, I began with a marker
and pastel on a cardboard and finished it in photoshop:

After a week of drawing marabous I love these birds even more.
I love their postures. They look a bit like old aunties or old men.
For me they are beautiful, very characteristic!

red shoes

hurray, I found my red shoes!!

A several years ago I bought very nice red shoes
and I was in love with them.
I walked on them till they broke in two, totally worn out.
I wanted new ones, but couldn't find them, till today :-)

I've also made an illustration earlier this year in January
about my longing for red shoes:
today red is the color of my shoes
