new work!

Sunday the 13th of October will be the opening of the exhibition
'aan tafel' in Galerie Oker in Amsterdam

Especially for this exhibition I've made what I call the 'mad tea series'
The theme of the exhibition is around food, drink and tableware.

I played with this idea already for a long time
and this exhibition seemed to be a good reason to develop it further.

I had to find a special tea-character
First I drew a lot of teapots and cups. I gave them faces and bodies
And slowly the girl appeared with her head based on a tea-cup
Above you find a little selection of my sketches

I've made a giant list of all kind of teas: liber-tea, positivi-tea, simplici-tea
musicali-tea, synchronici-tea, creativi-tea and many many more
and chose five teas to play with and here's the result

Wouldn't it be a nice idea if those teas really existed?
If you are worried, you'll take a cup of simplici-tea
or when you feel stuck, you'll take a cup of creativi-tea.
Or if you are a little stiff, what to think of a cup of flexibili-tea?

The exhibition 'aan tafel' in Galerie Oker is from 13 October till 15 December
My work is only a little part of the exhibition, there's much more work from
many talented artists! Galerie Oker even launches the special tableware: 'lose a shoe'

exhibition: white

This afternoon I visited the exhibition White in the Dutch Photography Museum.

All works exhibited have something to do with the theme white.
And that's more than I thought. Many rooms with different themes
from food to underwear, from rascism to marriage to death.

the golden carriage

Today is the third Tuesday of September. In Holland we call this day: 'Prinsjesdag'
This year it's a bit special, because we have a new King and Queen.

They will make a tour in the golden carriage and wave to the people.

After that the new King will read 'de troonrede',
a speech with the plans from the government.

Everybody is curious how our new King Willem Alexander will do it.
And what his wife Queen Maxima will wear...

Last year I made this drawing of the speech spoken by our old Queen Beatrix

Yes, we survived it!

This was the first time we did an Art Market with a lot of rain and wind.
It was hard work to keep everything in place , but we survived it!

It was the premiere of the new card racks
They work well in bad whether circumstances, good to know :-))

kunstfestival Schiebroek

Next Saterday the 14th of September I'm on an Art Market
in Rotterdam again: Kunstfestival Schiebroek
The festival is not only an Art Market, but there's also a lot of (street) theatre.

I will sell my giclée art prints, postcards, posters, some t-shirts and bags.
If you are in the neighbourhood come by and say hello,
that would be fun :-))

inspiration: Herman Schouwenburg

Yesterday I was at the opening of the exhibition: 'poëzie op een plankje',
with paintings (op een plankje) of Herman Schouwenburg

Herman makes small paintings of ordinairy people, he often adds text to them.
For this project they asked 7 poets to write a little poem to one of his paintings.

The exhibition is in Studio De Bakkerij in Rotterdam.
A very nice place, gallery and theatre.

I'm really impressed by the enormous amount of paintings Herman has made.
They often make me smile. All very recognizable people.

a wolf in Holland

Last week they found a real wolf in Holland
Not in the zoo, or in a fairytale, but here in Holland, in de Noordoostpolder
The poor animal was dead. Probably hit by a car.

They say the wolf walked all the way from Eastern Europe.
They expect more wolves are coming this way.

A bit scary idea, I often wear a red jacket with a red cap,
when walking in the woods... ;-)
